Firefighters responded to more than just a fire in Laflin early Tuesday morning. Laflin Fire Department says just after 4 a.m. they headed to Main Street for a reported dwelling fire. Luzerne County 911 gave additional information to officials about gunshots fired and other conflicting information at the residence. Firefighters first on scene attacked heavy fire conditions on the first floor in the back of the residence. Laflin Fire says as they were attempting to gain entry of the residence, a man confronted them with a knife. Fire and EMS workers subdued the man and state police took him into custody.
