The Plymouth Township Council recognized numerous members of its volunteer fire companies, including two men celebrating 50 years of service. As a testament to the hard work that Plymouth Fire Co. No. 1 and Harmonville Fire Co. No. 1 volunteers undertake every day to keep its residents safe, many were battling a blaze in Whitemarsh Township and missed Monday night's Plymouth Township Council meeting recognition and plaque presentations.
Plymouth Fire Co. No. 1 members Edward Garbacz Jr. and Frank Heleniak were each recognized for 50 years of service.
As he read the resolution honoring Garbacz, Councilman David Gannon acknowledged how hard of a job firefighting is, particularly because of the various training and certifications required.
