Longtime firefighter Malcolm Stephens Jr., was sworn in as third assistant fire chief during Monday's City Council meeting.
Sunbury Mayor Kurt Karlovich swore in Stephens, a member of the Sunbury Steam and Fire Co., in front of City Council. City Clerk Terry Specht said she was happy for Stephens.
"He has been a dedicated firefighter for decades and we are glad to see the Sunbury Steam Co. get a spot with a chief's position," she said.
Stephens' job duties will include taking control of a scene when other city chiefs are not available, Specht said.
