A Clearfield County student is taking on a big project-- to build a memorial wall for firefighters in Brady Township. Matthew Wachob is a senior at Jeff Tech and a junior firefighter with the Brady Township Fire and Rescue Company. When assigned a senior project for school, he chose to build a memorial wall honoring past and present firefighters in the township. “We're just ecstatic that he chose to do such a project for us in honor of our members and fallen members,” Brady Township Fire Chief Russell Perks said. “It's just a huge honor for him to choose us to do this sort of project." This project holds more meaning than just a school assignment, Wachob said his family has been with the department since it began in 1958. “With me being a firefighter, my family is in the fire department, I might as well honor all of them, the ones that lived, lost and respected the department," Wachob said.
