Fire protection services have been suspended for the small borough of Millbourne as leaders of its fire department and the borough try to settle a years-long dispute over personnel and department resources. Millbourne Fire Chief Joseph Artmont Jr. officially declared the station out of service Tuesday night after a reportedly contentious borough council meeting. Emergency personnel and residents approached council on how they’re trying to help the department recruit new members and provide a needed training space on the second floor of borough hall. Council provided no answers. Artmont said the second-floor space had been declared unstable five years ago. Without that area that could be used for training, meetings and social camaraderie, it has been sitting un-worked and membership has been dropping.
