A state audit of Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department Relief Association for a four-year period found almost $90,000 in undocumented expenses for which the association is working to recover all required documentation, according to the association’s president. The association and its affiliated fire department, Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department, are separate legal entities. The Pennsylvania auditor general’s audit of the relief association covered a four-year period from Jan. 1, 2014, through Dec. 31, 2017, with the association in compliance with applicable state laws, contracts, bylaws and administrative procedures regarding the receipt of state aid and the expenditure of relief association funds. However, the audit had three findings — undocumented expenditures, unauthorized expenditures, and failure to maintain a complete and accurate equipment roster.
