A fire roared through a machine shop on Quarry Road at N. Moscow Road Monday morning. Keystone Valley Fire Department was initially dispatched for the report of smoke in the building in the welding shop of Farm-Bilt-Machine just after 7 a.m. The situation quickly escalated as first arriving units reported fire through the roof. Keystone Valley Fire Department public information officer Peter Mango said crews made a aggressive attack on the fire but nearly ran out of water as there are no hydrants in that area. Firefighters were alert to securing the tanks of compressed gases used in the business.
