Firefighters on Saturday night battled a two-alarm structure fire at a double-block home on East Green Street in the borough until early Sunday morning.
A fire official at the scene said everyone got out of the residence safely but a firefighter suffered second-degree burns to the ears.
He said the fireman was expected to be OK.
The blaze caused parts of the home to collapse, resulting in heavy damage to the structure.
It appeared crews had the flames out around 12 a.m. Sunday, but they were called back to the scene because some of the debris reignited.
The West Hazleton Fire Department thanked crews from Luzerne, Carbon and Schuylkill counties who battled the blaze from approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday night to 3:30 a.m. Sunday, on the department’s Facebook page.
