Crews in Providence tackled a house fire Friday. The fire broke out at a home on Yorkshire Street after 3 p.m. According to fire officials at the scene, the residents were not home at the time of the fire. Officials said the fire appears to have started on the outside of the first floor at the back of the house. The flames then spread to the inside of the second floor. One firefighter had to be evaluated by North Providence EMS crews at the scene, fire officials said. Witnesses told Eyewitness News they saw smoke coming from the home and called 911. The fire is currently under investigation.
