The chairman of the Coventry Fire District said Tuesday the district has a new contract with the firefighters union. According to Chairman Frank Palin, the new contract was agreed upon unanimously by the union and the board. He said the agreement has saved the district. Terms of the deal were not immediately available. The district made headlines this summer, as it had trouble making payroll and voters approved shutting it down.
