Rescue crews and residents worked together Sunday night to save a kitten that was caught in a sewer drain.
Several people took turns climbing into the drain outside Gregg’s Restaurant on Post Road, eventually finding the kitten hiding deep in a pipe and unable to get out on its own.
“I walked over and looked on my phone and the cat happened to be sitting right there on the ledge, a little gray cat,” said Kyle Cowdell. “We ended up calling the police and they showed up.”
The fire department used water to gently flush the feline out.
According to the East Greenwich Animal Protection League, the kitten will be available for adoption once it’s evaluated.
