Fire crews were called to a home in Warwick Saturday afternoon for a report of a fire.
According to Warwick Batallion Chief Thomas Maynon, the flames broke out at a home on Chatworth Avenue around 12:05 p.m.
Maynon said a woman was home at the time of the fire and had to be assisted out by firefighters. She was transported to Kent Hospital to be treated for possible smoke inhalation. Officials said there were no major injuries.
Chief Maynon said the fire was put out in about 30 minutes and the home sustained serious damage, rendering it uninhabitable.
During a primary search of the home, fire officials said they located and rescued the woman’s cat. It was taken from the home alive.
Multiple engine companies and ladder trucks were called to assist at the scene, according to officials.
