Fire starts inside pipe at East Providence apartment building

Crews in East Providence were called to an early morning fire. It started around 4:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Apartments off Warren Avenue. Firefighters on scene said the fire is believed to have started in a pipe. The building was evacuated while crews got the fire under control. But, everyone has been allowed back in. No one was injured in the fire, although there was one person hit by a car in the parking lot. But, that person’s injuries are not considered serious.
