The leadership of the city firefighters' union, including incumbent President Paul A. Doughty, was returned to office this week, when no one was nominated to run against them, the union said.
The nomination deadline came a week after Doughty and the negotiating team for Local 799 of the International Association of Firefighters reached an agreement with the city that restored the department’s old four-shift work schedule in exchange for an reducing the required minimum number of firefighters per shift from 94 to 88. The agreement must be approved by union members and the City Council to be effective.
The two-year union terms will begin Nov. 1.
