The Albion Fire District was awarded a $3,000 fire prevention grant to assist with pre-fire planning to collect and track information about local community buildings.
The grant funding, awarded recently by FM Global, aims to help the district collect data to help firefighters respond in emergency situations.
In February, a multiple-alarm fire claimed the historic building in the village that housed a post office, social club, food mart and apartment units.
“At FM Global, we strongly believe the majority of property damage is preventable, not inevitable,” said Michael Spaziani, who serves FM Global as assistant vice president, and manager of the fire prevention grant program.
