State Rep. J. O’Grady has successfully passed our bill H5044 through the House of Representatives with a vote of 71-0. This was key to our moving forward, as it was our first step in the process of surrendering our charter to the district of Saylesville. This bill has now moved onto the Senate floor, where Sen. Ryan Pearson has taken up our cause and is moving forward with the process.
On Wednesday the 14th of June, our bill was heard in the Senate Municipal Affairs Committee hearing and was being held for further study. We have been told that this is normal protocol for a bill and that this in no way means that the bill is in danger. Again, we spoke with Senator Pearson and Representative O’Grady and again they assured us that the bill is moving forward and that there is no reason that this bill would fail.
