A house fire in Central Falls is being investigated as an arson, authorities said Wednesday.
NBC 10 News learned that a single-family home on Central Street was intentionally set on fire early Monday morning.
“Based on the investigation and information developed at this point, the Division of State Fire Marshal has determined the fire was intentionally set to this occupied home and therefore is a first-degree arson,” police noted in a press release.
The property owner, who was home and asleep at the time of the fire, said he woke up to the sound of an explosion.
Everyone inside escaped from the structure and no one was harmed.
