Firefighting is like a family business for Middletown Fire Chief Peter Faerber Jr.
The Town Council unanimously appointed Faerber as the community’s new chief at Monday night’s meeting. Faerber said he was honored to be promoted from within to the Middletown Fire Department’s top job.
Faerber is a lifelong local resident minus time away at college, and has been with Middletown Fire for 21 years, with the last two as the department’s training captain.
A number of Faerber’s colleagues, past and present, attended his swearing-in at Town Hall, including retired chiefs Ronald Doire, Stephen Martin and David Carlisle. The audience erupted with loud applause the moment after Faerber’s appointment became official.
