After months of examining the East Greenwich Fire Department, its union contract with the town and its budget, the town manager announced her decision to dismiss Fire Chief Russell McGillivray from his position during a meeting Monday night. Town manager Gayle Corrigan has spent a lot of time focused on the spending of the fire department since she took over the town manager position in June, and stated Monday night that her recommendation to remove McGillivray from the position of fire chief was made “without cause.”
