Cumberland fire commissioner charged in altercation with Pawtucket firefighter

The Cumberland Police Department confirmed to NBC 10 News that a commissioner with the Cumberland Fire Department has been charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Deputy Police Chief Douglas Ciullo told NBC 10 that Paul Santoro surrendered to authorities Wednesday afternoon. The charges were brought after an alleged altercation between Santoro and Pawtucket Firefighter Christopher Parent at a local union hall. While Parent sustained an injury, the extent of that injury wasn’t immediately known. Santoro is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 24 in Providence District Court.
