Fire broke out in the unoccupied upper floors of a triple decker on Dexter Street Wednesday morning as children were reporting to two nearby schools. No one was injured. The fire was reported at 7:42 a.m. at 1045 Dexter St., across the street from Blackstone Valley Prep Middle School 1, according to Chief Robert E. Bradley Jr. Bradley said crews were on scene within minutes and quickly knocked the fire down. The first floor occupants got out of the house on their own without incident and were waiting on the sidewalk when firefighters arrived. The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate how the fire started.
