A decades old business in Johnston was destroyed by fire Saturday morning.
Eyewitness News crews were on the scene on River Avenue and spoke with the owner of Rhode Island Roof Truss.
He told us, he was inside his office doing some work on his computer when the fire started around 8:45 a.m.
“The lights dimmed, and then I looked up, and I saw a little bit of smoke coming in the office. I dialed 911. By the time I dialed 911 the office was full of black smoke,” said George Mitola.
“I couldn’t even see the door, couldn’t find the door. I walked because I know the building,” added Mitola.
George Mitola was able to escape the flames and smoke, but he tells us his business is a total loss.
“The whole building, the whole front of it was all on fire,” said Mitola.
