In hoping to practice preparation and response in the event of a mass shooting, the Narragansett Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in coordination with several local and state agencies and departments, will conduct a full-scale training exercise on Narragansett Town Beach on the morning of May 23. “Volunteers will essentially be playing hurt or injured victims,” said Narragansett Fire Chief and NEMA Coordinator Scott Partington by phone Wednesday. “We started planning this exercise following table-top exercises geared toward school safety,” said Partington. “It was kind of an extension from that, and we needed to incorporate a full-scale functional exercise around that theme.”
