The Central Coventry Fire District is welcoming a new fire engine into its fleet this week while also welcoming back a rescue truck that was damaged in August of 2018.
CCFD Chief Frank Brown says the department is in great shape at the start of 2019.
As of Saturday evening, both the new engine and repaired rescue are fully in service and hitting the road for calls.
“It was operational as of late Saturday night,” Brown said of the new engine. “A bunch of guys worked on Saturday to get it in service.”
The new engine was originally a demo unit, he said, purchased by the district at a cost of $445,000 in 2017. It is a 2017 Spartan Smeal with a 750 gallon water tank.
