On Tuesday, teachers and staff at Broad River Elementary School spent some time training on how to use a tourniquet.
The Burton Fire District along with the school has installed trauma kits in each classroom.
Following the Townville Elementary School shooting last September, in which a 6-year-old boy was killed, Anglea Byrne, a teacher at BRES, got the idea for the trauma kit.
She said the idea came up after talking with her husband, Burton Fire District firefighter and paramedic, Daniel Byrne.
