Firefighters from across South Carolina gathered to celebrate the life of one their own on Wednesday, North Fire Chief Gregory Gambrell.
Gambrell died on Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 59.
“Greg Gambrell was not afraid to die,” said his pastor, the Rev. Larry Davis of Fellowship Baptist Church. “He was a man of integrity and a man of his word,” Davis said.
“The faith that Greg had was very plainly obvious,” said the Rev. Gene Ball, chaplain of the Orangeburg County Fire District.
