Eddie Phipps, MPCC General Council and MPCC President Chris Staubes presented Mount Pleasant Fire Chief Brian Tuohy with the First Responder Recognition for the month of September. Fire Chief Mike Mixon had nominated Tuohy because in addition to his regular shifts as a fire fighter, Tuohy writes grants for the department. He recently authored a grant through FEMA called the Assistance to Firefighters Grant and the Town was awarded $220,000 to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus. Before coming to Mount Pleasant Tuohy was a wildland firefighter and a member of a hotshot crew out west that responded to remote fires deep in the wilderness. He was recently promoted to Captain and is assigned to Engine 503. Brian is also a paramedic.
