Sango home destroyed by fire after lighting strike

Although no one was hurt, a $475,000 home in the Sango community was destroyed by a fire Wednesday evening when lightning struck a nearby gas meter. In total, an estimated 30 firefighters, four departments responded to 3000 Oak Glen Ln. just after 4 p.m., Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Jerry Buchanan reported. A neighbor reported lightning struck the gas meter, he said, igniting a gas line that ran into the house and shot fire from a fireplace.
