Three local first-responder organizations have joined forces in an effort to better serve rural residents of northern/western Hawkins County.
For more than 15 years, the Hawkins Co. Rescue Squad and Persia Vol. Fire Department have partnered to provide rescue services to the southern portion of the county.
Those collaborative efforts have allowed the Rescue Squad to station a light-duty rescue truck at the fire department which, in turn, allows members of the Squad that live near the department to get a rescue truck and respond to calls quicker, ultimately reducing response times to calls south of the Holston River.
