Greeneville Fire Department veteran John Craft has been named to the new position of assistant fire chief.
Craft has been with the fire department for 29 years and has served in the ranks of lieutenant, captain and battalion chief. He has a long family history in public service. His father, Howard “Foots” Craft, served in the GFD for 21 years and retired as a captain. Craft became a volunteer with the GFD on his father’s last day, and he was given some of his father’s equipment. Also, his brother, Jeff Craft, served in the Greeneville Police Department for 30 years before retiring in 2016.
Craft is certified as an advanced emergency medical technician, hazardous materials technician and an instructor.
