A family escaped unharmed after a possible electrical short started a fire in their kitchen overnight. The fire happened on Saratoga Lane in northwest Houston around 1 a.m. Friday. The Houston Fire Department responded and found smoke coming from the one-story home. The tenant told KHOU 11 News he believes an electrical short in the stove caught fire, an electrical issue he says he told his landlord about. Five kids were home at the time along with the tenant’s wife. All escaped without injury, but now their home no longer has a kitchen. Firefighters helped to remove smoke and some debris from inside the home.
