A woman was taken into custody early Thursday morning after she allegedly stole a Houston Fire Department ambulance to get away from her boyfriend and led police on a chase that ended in downtown. The incident started about 11:45 p.m. when firefighters at HFD Station 17 at 2805 Navigation alerted police that Ambulance 17 was missing, said Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department. Crowson said firefighters told officers they were in the living quarters at the station and one of them went outside and discovered the ambulance was gone from the equipment bay. Officers tracked the truck with its on board GPS and then spotted it on 11th Street near Hempstead.
