Three adults and five children lost a home overnight Thursday in South Austin. Firefighters spent hours putting out the flames at their duplex located at 2512 Howellwood Way near Slaughter Lane and Manchaca Road. The residents made it out of the residence safely. Investigators said they are likely to determine what caused the fire later Friday morning. Officials estimate the fire caused about $250,000 worth of damage to the building.
