Firefighters are being called heroes after rescuing a dog from a burning home in north Houston Thursday night. Houston firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the back of a home on Wilkie at Canino around 9:30 p.m. They made a fast attack, and brought the fire under control before it consumed the entire house. Family members escaped safely from the home, but were screaming that a dog was trapped inside. Firefighters went into the house and brought the dog out. It will be OK. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
