VIDEO: A family of four escaped a house fire on the city's Northwest Side on Tuesday morning. Flames broke out at the house in the 5700 block of Dhaka View, near Culebra and Timberhill at about 5:30 a.m. A family of four and two pets were able to safely get out of the house. Aerial footage showed flames burning behind the home in a shed, but the fire quickly spread to the house, causing extensive damage to the second story and roof. A home next door was also damaged. Firefighters speculated the fire started outside the home. Family members said they recently installed an alarm system and didn't think they would need to use the fire feature so soon. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
