While Houston firefighters battled a large warehouse blaze in the Spring Branch area on Thursday morning, one drone operator saw an opportunity to give Houstonians an up close look at the at the fire even better than what a helicopter could offer. This drone video shot by GoodChildDrone shows an aerial view of the fire in the 1700 block of Laverne which offered up a towering plume of black smoke that could be seen from miles away. The footage shows the scene just before HFD was able to begin fighting the fire. Viewers can see some of the chemicals from the warehouse beginning to flow from the complex as fire trucks begin to stage from the perimeter. The drone gets pretty close to the fire without being damaged. With some drones costing thousands of dollars, the pilot was surely ... playing with fire. (Sorry, we had to.)
