An early Thursday morning fire left an East Waco home damaged, the third time firefighters have been to that address in the past year. A fire marshal at the scene in the 600 block of Bowers Street confirmed it was the third time a fire has been investigated at that house and said the Thursday morning blaze was definitely suspicious.
Firefighters were sent just after 5 a.m. to the house and upon their arrival reported a fire at the front of the single-story, wood frame structure and a small fire at the rear.
The blaze was quickly brought under control and the damage was confined to the exterior of the house.
No one was living in the house at the time but it was being rented out for use as a neighborhood game room, the owner, who was at the scene, said.
Electric utilities were turned on but the fire marshal said he doesn’t believe the origin was electrical.
The owner said he had just completed repairs on the house from the last time it caught fire.
Firefighters were sent to the same address on April 17, 2015, for a similar blaze.
