A fiery three-vehicle crash early Wednesday in Cameron left one person dead and sent two others to a local hospital.
The accident, which happened just after 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Columbus Avenue, involved an 18-wheeler and two vehicles, one of which caught on fire.
Officers determined that the driver of the vehicle that was on fire was dead and tried to extinguish the flames, but the fire rekindled.
Cameron firefighters put the fire out.
The driver of the 18-wheeler and the second vehicle were taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
Their injuries weren’t life-threatening, police said.
An initial investigation determined that the southbound 18-wheeler crossed into the northbound lane on a curve and struck the vehicle whose driver died.
