Area fire crews are responding to a house fire in Moody that reportedly killed family pets Wednesday afternoon, Moody Police Chief Roger Kennedy said.
Firefighters with the Moody, Bruceville-Eddy, and McGregor volunteer fire departments were called to 302 Ninth St. shortly after 2 p.m. when flames were spotted coming from the roof of the home and thick smoke rose from the house. Kennedy said a family was living at the home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported. Kennedy said emergency responders were not able to reach a family dog and four cats during the fire.
