A new rating for the Buda Fire Department could help lower insurance rates for all residents and businesses.
The Buda Fire Department is announcing it’s one of only 300 fire departments in the United States to receive a Class 1 Insurance Service Office, or ISO, rating out of over 49,000 communities surveyed.
There are only 63 departments in Texas that have been awarded a Class 1 rating, the fire department said.
According to the department, the ISO rating is used to measure the quality and effectiveness of fire protection in a community. A rating of one is the best possible rating on a scale of one to 10.
“Being one of only a few communities in the state to earn this classification and creating the opportunity for companies to have lower insurance rates position the Buda community to become an even more safe and cost-effective place to live and work,” reads a press release issued by the fire department.
