Explosion reported in Jersey Village, Harris County firefighters respond

Harris County firefighters are responding to reports of a explosion in the Jersey Village area in Northwest Harris County, near Highway 290 and FM 1960. The Jersey Village Police Department reports the location as the 12200 block of Spencer Rd. The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office confirms they were called to assist. Photos posted on Twitter show a large cloud of black smoke near an industrial area. The Fire Marshal reports there was a trash fire with a propane tank inside. The fire apparently caused the tank to explode. There were no reports of injuries. Witnesses reported they felt and heard a loud explosion around 11:30 a.m. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that a couple of lanes of of traffic are closed. Deputies are assisting with perimeter security and traffic control.
