City Manager Clayton Chandler announced Wednesday the appointment of Mike Ross, former assistant fire chief and current interim chief, to the position of Fire Chief for the City of Mansfield. “It is gratifying to maintain consistency and stability in a department while also finding the right person for the job,” Chandler said. “Mike Ross has almost 20 years with the Mansfield Fire Rescue and has served in critical leadership roles since 2009. He has an exemplary record and received strong recommendations from former Fire Chief Barry Bondurant and other members of the command staff. He is the right person to lead a growing fire department into the future.” Former Fire Chief Barry Bondurant retired earlier this month after 35 years of service.
