Although James “Jim” Miguel has been on the job for the past few weeks, Provo’s new fire chief took the official Provo Fire Oath of Office in a special ceremony Monday. That oath includes upholding and supporting the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Utah, and the laws and ordinances of the city of Provo. It also says the new chief will offer professional quality service to the citizens of Provo. Miguel replaced 40-year veteran Chief Gary Jolley who retired in May. “Miguel brings in a lot of fresh ideas,” said Deputy Fire Chief Tom Augustus. “He wants to develop what Provo’s about. He includes everyone on decisions and he doesn’t hesitate to ask questions.”
