Charges are pending on one man after deputies with the Utah County Sheriffs Office claim he assaulted a Fire Chief in Cedar Fort.
Deputies say the assault happened as firefighters were working to put out a fully engulfed house fire.
It happened at 100 South 30 East just before midnight Monday.
Matthew McFarland with the Unified Fire Authority states, “They have a volunteer fire department and their department had the initial response. But we are located in Eagle Mountain adjacent to that, two stations, so we came in to give them back up.”
Deputies tell Good4Utah one man became unruly and tried to put the fire out himself, shoving a fire chief to the ground. According to Sergeant Spencer Cannon with UCSO, another man began pushing and shoving firefighters shortly after.
“It is a mutual investigation between the Utah County Fire Marshals, Utah County Sheriffs and Unified Fire Authority Fire Investigation Team.
The two men were detained for pushing and shoving the firefighters. Deputies said they have been released at this hour with charges pending.
