The U.S. Forest Service is investigating a small fire in American Fork Canyon that started Wednesday morning and was still smoldering. Kathy Jo Pollock, spokesperson for the U.S. Forest Service, said the fire is located about 3 to 4 miles in Burned Canyon Draw on Forest Road 056, close to the Timpooneke Campground. The fire, which is being called the Burned Canyon Fire, was reported at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday and has since burned about 3.5 acres on either side of the road, Pollock said. Nothing has been damaged and nothing is threatened by the fire, which has low spread potential at this point, Pollock said.
