A family is without a home following a fire in Bluffdale early Friday morning. The blaze started in the basement of the home along 14400 South and 16th West around 7 p.m. on Thursday. Twelve hours later firefighters were called back to the house when the fire rekindled, according to authorities who quickly put out the second fire at the home on Friday morning. Officials said the fire was burning underneath insulation in the attic. "Weather had nothing to do with it," said Bluffdale Fire Chief John Roberts, speaking at the below freezing temperatures. "The only thing the weather did is make it miserable to fight the fire because of water freezing up." According to fire officials, the fire caused $200,000 in damage. Chief Roberts told 2News the family built the home about 40 years ago. The American Red Cross is now providing shelter for the family of six who are now displaced.
