Yesterday on the Trail Mountain Fire, crews worked diligently toward securing and encompassing the fire’s edge. Fire containment is now 43%. Firefighters will continue to use natural breaks in terrain and vegetation as well as direct and indirect fireline to increase containment. Burning operations will continue on the west and northwest side of the fire to prevent growth by removing receptive vegetation. Winds coming from the northwest are expected to be less turbulent over the next two days, and temperatures will continue to come down, while relative humidity increases. As fire containment grows, crews will also begin remediation work. Some of this work includes removing hazard trees, clearing roads, clearing streams, and building water bars to help prevent soil erosion.
