Two lightning-caused fires are burning south of St. George.
The larger of the fires, the Sand Cove fire, is burning 30 miles Southwest of St. George near Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument. The smaller fire, the Wolf Hole Fire is about 10 miles south of St. George near Hodgets Canyon.
The Wolf Hole Fire is smoldering at about 25 acres and Sand Cove Fire is still actively burning at about 55 acres in size. Fire managers for the Bureau of Land Management said the difficulty of the terrain and continuous nature of the fuels, is causing the crews to rely heavily on air tankers.
Smoke may be visible from St. George so use caution when traveling in these areas.
Fire managers remind the public to use caution with campfires as we enter a period of hot, dry weather.
