Before this month’s Speak to the Mayor program on KVNU, a Providence resident submitted a question to For the People to ask Mayor Holly Daines about fire service fees going up in Providence that would affect local residents. The mayor addressed that early in the program on Wednesday. “Let me tell you what the background is. We had a new fire chief come in about six months ago and...he was reviewing all the various service (and) the levels of service at various stations," said Daines. "Logan City operates three fire stations and we do contract with Providence to provide their fire service. Now what he discovered in going through the files is that the contract for service with Providence had not been reviewed in a number of years.”
