VIDEO: Firefighters looked forward to weaker wind gusts in the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain fires this week. Incident commanders said their meteorologists anticipate weaker winds over the next two to three days, with strong gusts returning mid-week. “We’re cautiously optimistic things are looking up there,” said Marty Adell of the Pole Creek Fire. The break will allow firefighters to get a better hold on the fire, which is just 2% contained as of Sunday, Adell said. “We do believe we’ll be able to catch it by this evening," said Adell. "Just with the wind and amount of fuels, it’s going to take awhile.”
